The Chinese photographer Ren Hang died at the age of 29. His work, based on nudity and human corporal expression, was very marked by the censorship of the Chinese society and government. His style was based on the non-planning of the result; Ren Hang introduced into his aesthetics exotic animals such as snakes, peacocks, fish and even swans, which interacted with models who, effectively, were not in the profession. Ren sought subtlety, normalisation and eroticism of the body, which led to him being arrested on several occasions by the authorities of the People's Republic of China. Fellow artist Ai Weiwei, also of Chinese origin, supported Ren as they shared a taste and sensibility for sensuality in photography, and included Ren's work in his 2013 exhibition in the Netherlands called "F*ck off 2 the sequel". In addition, a year later, he curated the photographer's show in Paris. This helped to increase the artist's notoriety worldwide.
